My Top 10 Revision Tips

Hey guys,

So this isn't really a post related to beauty or fashion etc. but as you probably know, I have exams next week and I'm sure a lot of you have had exams or are having them soon.

So first off, I'd like to apologise for the lack of posts lately. This is because of my busy life at the moment, but I promise everything should be back to normal after next week.

I decided to share with you my top ten exam revision tips, as I find these types of posts really helpful and hopefully you will find this one just as useful.

#1. Timing
Timing is really really important. It's far easier to start earlier on and do your work little and often than to wait till the last week and try and cram 10 hours a day. Trust me, I've had experience.

Break your day up into sections and don't try to do too much at once. You won't remember anything. Thanks why starting earlier gives you so much more time.

#2 Timetable
Make a timetable to plan ahead. Personally, I like to make a timetable to give me the basic structure of my revision, because I know if I do a really detailed one, I won't stick to it.

But if you are disciplined, do try to timetable your revision. Chances are if you dont, you will probably forget a subject you have to revise for.

I remember last year, I completely forgot I had a music exam and didn't revise at all.  As you can probably guess, I didn't do too well!

#3 Notes
You may agree or disagree with me here, but I think that pretty notes are the key to exam success.

I take pride in using brightly coloured pens and highlighters and make sure to place each lovingly written sheet in a clear plastic wallet to protect it.

Maybe you don't need to be as obsessive as me, but if you care about your work you are bound to learn more and score well.

#4 Stationary
Make sure that you have absolutely everything you need to study. I like to have the following:

- Pens (black biros only because I'm fussy)
- Highlighters in yellow and orange
- Lined paper
- Squared paper
- Plain paper
- A folder ( this year I'm using one for science and maths, one for humanities and one for languages)
- Clear plastic wallets
- Felt tip pens
- Ruler
- Pencil and pencil sharpener
- Glue

#5 Workspace
I can't work unless my desk is perfect. The perfect height, the perfect chair, the perfect amount of space. It just has to be perfect. I don't know why, but I just get really annoyed if something is out of place on my desk.

I don't really tend to use a pencil case when I'm revising, mostly because I like to be able to reach for things, without having to faff around unzipping things. I like to put my equipment in little baskets because that way everything is in front of me.

Anyway, number five was make sure you are happy with your workspace.

#6 Methods
I know that everyone likes to learn differently, but you won't know how you learn unless you try different strategies. Make flash cards, write out you notes, do online quizzes or simply read through your exercise books. And you don't need to just stick at one different method, the possibilities are endless.

Personally, I write out my notes, do exercise sheets and make flash cards for vocabulary, but I know people who solely revise from flash cards. Revise in your own way!

#7 Music
Now, I don't tend to listen to music whilst studying as I find it distracts me. I just end up singing or humming along! Once I did test it out for a little topic test, and whilst I was supposed to be writing out Fundamental Ideas in Chemistry notes, I ended up absent mindedly singing the lyrics to Wrecking Ball!

However I have friends who like to listen to some gentle music whilst revising and a tip from them would be: listen to soft quiet and relaxing music, preferably at a low volume. So no One Direction mind you!

#8 Distractions
Everyone gets distracted by something whilst revising. That's why I think it's very important to put away your phone, laptop and iPad so you can really focus.

Schedule breaks into your timetable so that you can check your Twitter, have a drink and maybe even catch up with this blog!

#9 Workload
Don't try to bite off more than you can chew. Everyone has their limits so there is not point in sitting in the same place for seven hours when the information is going in one ear and coming out the other.

If you are getting tired- have a break! And come back when you are more refreshed. Overworking yourself just leads to disaster!

#10 Eat and Live right
I know everyone says this, but there truly is nothing better than feeling refreshed and ready on the morning of an exam. Eat healthily, go to bed early and your results will definitely reflect that. Good luck!

I hope you enjoyed this post, sorry about the rambling and the length!

Good luck of you also have exams, and come again soon!

Feeling Nail Arty

It's the Summer Half Term and even though I'll be spending my holiday revising for exams round the corner first week back (yay!) I think it's time to whip out the brightly coloured nail varnish.

I have posted nail art pictures before in term time, but sadly I had to wash it off for school the next day.

However,  this week I can I can wear it for as long as I like until the chips start to appear and my OCD forces me to take it off.

So, to kick off the holiday what better colour to wear than bright purple?

I used some unknown brands found at a random market stall, that are surprisingly very well pigmented and are actually good quality.

Excuse my cuticles.

For the coverage I had in the purple, I applied 3 generous coats.

On my ring finger I used Revlon Colourstay in Sandy Nude and the pink triangle accent is a random brand called Gabrini that cost 99p from a stall.

The pink is actually so much brighter tha shown on camera. It's actually illluminous pink and I saw it just laying there in a huge barrel of polish and heard it scream my name. I just had to pick it up! From the same place I also bought a highlighter yellow shade and I'm literally in love with it.

If you'd like to see 'highlighter yellow' nails, leave a comment down below!

Lots of love!

Customised Dungarees

Hi guys!

So recently I've been clearing out my wardrobe and sorting through clothes. Now, I do have many that I've never worn before, but I'm a bit of a hoarder so naturally I want to keep them all!

However, since I'm trying to free up a bit more space in my closet, I decided to go for it and chucked a few things away.

There was one thing though, that I couldn't bear to let go of- my vintage denim dungarees.

Ok, so they're probably not vintage as they are my mums old Italian denim overalls that she wore when she was a teenager, and they are definitely the ugliest thing I own. They look awful on me and are seriously unflattering. But for some strange reason, I absolutely adore them.

Here they are:
Beautiful right?
So with nothing more than a pair of scissors, I decided to customise these bad boys:

What you will need:

Some ugly dungarees, shorts or trousers
A fabric hole punch ( optional)
Metal stud hole punch thingees ( I'm so sorry but I don't know what they're called!)

1. First of all, cut your dungarees/ trousers/ shorts to the length that you want them.
Make sure that both legs are even though.
I'd recommend using fabric scissors. I got this pretty spotty pair from Dunelm Mill for £1.99 for a pack of 3.

2. After chopping the legs, distress them a bit. This is super easy. All you need to do, is pull the fraying bits of cotton away from the hem as shown below:

3. Next, grab your scissors and start making a few rips and tears. Just use the blade to rub against the fabric to create some holes.

4. Finally add the detail. Punch holes in the denim in any pattern you like then add the metal embellishments.
Here I did a little triangle on the corner of the leg.

And you're all done. You've customise a pair or dungarees.

Thanks for reading! See you soon,

Easy Leopard Print Nails

Hey guys!
Sorry for my lack of posts lately, I have been really busy- but I've created lots of fun crazy projects to do tutorials on, so keep you eye out for new posts.

Today I painted my nails. I felt like having something simple and classy, but also fun and wild- is that even possible?

I thought for a while and then... Inspiration! Leopard print! Ok, so not everyone's idea of simple and classy, but definitely fun and wild.

However, I chose to tone it down a bit, by using neutral colours and easily achieved the leopard print on the ring finger by using a Sharpie pen.

Give it a try an tell me what you think!

Wrapping Paper Obsession

Hello!
I've been sorting through my junk and I seem to have accumulated many rolls of wrapping paper. I've got spotty ones, stripy ones, plain ones, pattern ones... These are all left overs from wrapping presents and they are some very pretty patterns indeed.

I think I'm going to use them for things other than wrapping presents, but I'm not sure what yet. I've been busily scouring the web, googling 'what to do with wrapping paper' and have got some pretty good results.

I actually gave it a go at doing a bit of wrapping with my paper and have made just one thing, which I genuinely really like and will definitely use:

It's a cute little box. It actually had beads in it once upon a time, and was just plain lilac, but I kept the box and the little plastic separating tray and magically turned it into an earring divider.

I simply just wrapped the outside shell of the drawer with some cute vintage style paper and inserted the drawer. It now sits on my bedside table and makes a nice little addition.

If you have any other ideas for me to use my wrapping paper and if you would like me to write a post on it, simply comment below!

Simple Galaxy Nails

Ok so I kind of have a slight obsession with nails. I get bored with the design after 3 days of wearing it and have been known to remove gel nails after a week. I don't know, I think I have a problem...
Anyway, I think I'm really behind on this whole galaxy nails trend but I'm really loving it and couldn't wait to recreate it. However, the only massive obstacle is that painting nails isn't my strongest point.  So, I decided to make it nice and simple, and to be honest I think it looks quite nice too. And it was really easy to recreate.

For my manicure I used:
Moonlight Shimmer Collection 2000
Gold Glitter Barry M
Bikini So Teeny Essie
Diamond Barry M
Natural White Sally Hansen

As you can see, I don't really buy all the super high end products even though they are pretty amazing. I tend to just stick to the ones that I can get in my local Superdrug or Boots. I think they're great- they paint really well and are nice and cheap.

So first of all I painted my nails with a base coat. I use a Sally Hansen one, simply because they are actually quite strengthening.
After that had dried I painted my nails with my purple shade Moonlight Shimmer this is quite a thick opaque polish so I actually got away with only one coat.

Next I did the galaxy nail. I got a sponge (just an average washing up sponge), snipped it up into small pieces and then painted them- one piece gold Gold Glitter, one piece white Natural White , one piece blue Bikini So Teeny. I then randomly splodged them all over the nail making a wispy galaxy effect.

After that, I used the Diamond over the top in splodges just to add a teeny bit of extra sparkle

Finally I drew the outline if my ring finger with Natural White and a striper brush, which you can buy on eBay very cheaply
If you want you can dab on some gold polish onto your thumb and pinkie, using the same technique as the galaxy, as I've done above.

Also you can shake it up a little by changing round the colours or even doing the galaxy nail on all of your nails- it's really up to you! Be creative! If you would like me to try out any other types of nail designs, please make a suggestion in the comments below!

DIY Vintage Chest of Drawers

I was in a charity shop the other day an found this:
It's a self adhesive film that can be used to wrap books, boxes, walls, you name it. I thought it was really pretty and had a sort of Cath Kidston rosebud pattern on it which I instantly fell in love with.
It was really cheap (50p) and I decided to purchase 2 rolls, not having any idea of what I wanted to use it for. When I got home however, I looked at my shabby excuse for a desk lurking in the corner of my bedroom and I immediately knew what my pretty patterned paper was going to  transform.

These were my desk before, pretty ugly right?

And this is my desk afterwards, all thanks to a roll of sticky backed plastic!
I think that's quite pretty. And it was super easy to achieve.
If you want to copy this look yourself, here is a link to some similar sticky film that you can buy on eBay for less that £3. Trust me it's worth it.

Introduction

Hello.
My name'a Eva and I am relatively new to this whole blogging community. It's a whole new world out here that I have discovered and I'm loving every minute of it. I decided to start this blog because beauty, fashion, food, crafts and lifestyle are my passions. I've been looking around lots of other blogs and have found beauty blogs, and fashion blogs, and food blogs, craft blogs and lifestyle blogs, but not one with everything all rolled into one. At least not in enough detail for my liking anyway. So I thought for a bit and suddenly came up with a brainwave. What if I made my own? And this is what I intend to do. I do hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy writing it

Lots of Love
Eva

P.S These first few weeks might be pretty hectic what with all my excitement and everything, but stick by and enjoy!
